2025 Pittsburgh Chapter Awards

Important Dates and Process:
• Submission deadline: 11:59 PM on March 31, 2026
• Awards presented at the 50th Annual Pittsburgh Chapter Sporting Gala on April 11, 2026

2025 PITTSBURGH CHAPTER SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR

The Pittsburgh Chapter Sportsman of the Year Award shall be presented to that candidate who most completely embodies the following criteria:

• Is a current Pittsburgh chapter member in good standing 
• Has submitted an entry or has been nominated by a fellow chapter member 
• Has engaged in the Chapter’s stated mission with enthusiasm and dedicated ample time, resources and services in pursuit of a greater overall experience for the membership
• Has diligently engaged in the lawful pursuit of and honorable kill of an animal(s) in a natural free range habitat
• Has established themselves as an ambassador for the core values of Safari Club and demonstrates the ability to collaborate with others to protect the right to hunt 
• Conducts themselves with honor, integrity and the highest degree of ethics

2025 FUTURE LEADERS AWARD

The Future Leaders Award shall be presented to the candidate between the ages of 8 and 17 (as of 12/31/25) who submits a written essay explaining actions taken which clearly demonstrate ANY of the following: 

• A significant accomplishment in the outdoors including, but not limited to: 
  • Lawful and ethical harvest of an animal(s) in a natural, free-range habitat 
  • Organizing or participating in a conservation project related to the establishment or restoration of a natural habitat / ecosystem that would promote the propagation of wild game species 
• Engaging in a sportsmen’s advocacy initiative 
• Participated in any educational courses / workshops / programs / camps (in addition to Hunter Safety Education) to further their knowledge of wildlife / habitat conservation 
• Dedicated time and effort to support a sponsored Safari Club or affiliate event 
• Explains how their experiences have taught them valuable lessons, established or honed particular skills, enhanced their appreciation for outdoor ecosystems and/or has inspired them to want to continue pursuing outdoor adventures
